Can't login with your account?

If you made a couple of failed attempts to login your account (i.e. you did steps 1-6 but forgot steps 7-13), then this might help:

VMware has a counter that enables lockout for 900 seconds (15mins) after 5 failed attempts.
You can change these values:

  1. Login your VMware ESXi host (with an account that isn't locked out).
  2. In the top left corner, inside "Navigator", expand the submenu "Host".
  3. In the "Host"-submenu, press "Manage".
  4. Press the tab "System".
  5. Press "Advanced settings".
  6. Search for the key "Security.AccountLockFailures". (As you can see this has a default value of "5".)
  7. Change the value from "5" to "0".
  8. Now you can login.
  9. Change back "Security.AccountLockFailures" to "5". Your account's counter is reset already.

As you probably figured out: "Security.AccountUnlockTime" is connected to the "lockout feature". However, for this particular purpose you don't need to alter it.
